abstract

cadmium as a heavy metal is also considered as a serious threat for the environment. this element is accumulated in soil through industrial processes as well as phosphate fertilizers and aggregates into the food chain.this study was conducted in order to investigate of different levels of cadmium effects on growth features of rapeseed(brassica napus l.) plants. root and shoot weight and height, contents of chlorophyll a and b, total chlorophyll, carotenoid and peroxidase enzyme activity were measured after one month of plantation. generally, an increase in cadmium concentration showed a significant effect on morphological characteristics of root and shoot but revealed no significant effect on chlorophyll a and b as well as on carotenoid contents, though it caused a significant decline in peroxidase activity level specially for concentrations above 90 µm of cadmium treatment.

Morpho-Physiological Characteristics in Sorghum bicolor L

Na SO induced regulation of some key morpho-physiological characteristics in Sorghum were 2 4 examined to investigate the effect of Na SO on germination and morphology of Sorghum that was conducted 2 4 at Botany Department University of Gujrat. The variety used in this experiment was SSG-77. Plants were subjected for 30 days to sand culture that were salinized with four salt levels [T (control)...

A study of proline metabolism in canola (Brassica napus L.) seedlings under salt stress.

Expression analysis of crop plants has improved our knowledge about the veiled underlying mechanisms for salt tolerance. In order to observe the time course effects of salinity stress on gene expression for enzymes regulating proline metabolism, we comparatively analyzed the expression of specific genes for proline metabolism in root and shoot tissues of salt-tolerant (cv. Dunkled) and salt-sen...

some physiological responses of canola (brassica napus l.) to water deficit stress under laboratory conditions

drought is considered as one of the most important limiting factors for oil seed canola plant(brassica napus l.) growth and productivity in iran. on the basis of root and shoot dry weight asaffected by water stress exerted by peg 6000, out of 9 canola cultivars, a relatively tolerant (cv. aghaii)and a sensitive cultivar (cv. po4) were selected. their responses to low water potential with respec...

Some Biochemical Parameters of Brassica napus L

s: Chromium is one of the unessential heavy metal that makes high toxicity in the plants. The aim of this study was assaying the changes that come from toxicity of (Cr ) on some biochemical, physiological and 6+ ionic specification of Brassica napus variety sari flower. The tests were conducted at hydro ionic conditions and at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 μm concentration of K CrO with four repeats in...

Effect of foliar application of seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum extract on morpho-physiological characteristics of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) under water stress

Seaweed extract can improve the physicochemical properties of the soil and has a favorable effect on the plant growth and development due to having high nutrient content, high water holding capacity, plant growth regulators and beneficial microorganisms. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effect of Ascophyllum nodosum extract, a brown alga, on the morphophysiological characterist...
